The John Wayne/John Ford Film Collection boxes together eight films from a star-and-director team rivaled only by Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune, or Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, Maybe. Revisiting the set - which, even with its major omissions, gathers the lion's share of the Wayne/Ford collaborations - it's tough to consider any rivals. The liberal Ford and the conservative Wayne had nothing in common politically, but artistically, they're perfectly in sync. WHV now introduces a ten-disc set featuring eight of the team's finest collaborations: The Searchers: Ultimate Collector's Edition (1956), Stagecoach: Special Edition (1939), Fort Apache (1948), The Long Voyage Home (1940), Wings of Eagles (1957), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1948), They Were Expendable (1945), 3 Godfathers (1948).

Based on the Stephen King short story The Body, Rob Reiner's easygoing nostalgia piece is set in Castle Rock, OR, over Labor Day weekend, 1959. The foursome consists of intellectual Gordie (Wil Wheaton), born leader Chris (River Phoenix), emotionally disturbed Teddy (Corey Feldman), and chubby hanger-on Vern (Jerry O'Connell). The boys' adventures en route to the elusive body are colored by the personal pressures brought to bear on all of them by the adult world. Richard Dreyfuss, playing the grown-up Gordie, narrates the film, while Kiefer Sutherland dominates every scene he's in as a brutish high-school bully.

The film opens showing Louis "Louie" Zamperini flying as a bombardier of a United States Army Air Forces B-24 Liberator bomber, during an April 1943 bombing mission against the Japanese-held island of Nauru. The plane is badly damaged in combat, with a number of the crew injured.
