The 170 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 557 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on learning and information processing, data mining, retrieval and management, bioinformatics and bio-inspired models, agents and hybrid systems, financial engineering, as well as a special session on nature-inspired date technologies.

Chinese ancient music developed within a long history of profound Chinese culture, which is considered as sounds of nature. Preciously selected from a large number of classical music in its music library by China Record Corporation, the largest record company in China, these beautiful music are constituted to eight CDs of Pre-Qin, Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty. They are now called “General History” of Chinese music industry.

The proceedings contain a selection of refereed contributions and are meant to serve as a source of reference for all those interested in the state of the art in computational fluid dynamics.

Inspired by 54ajax's wonderful share of Jenny Lin's Chinoisere, I decided to start a new mini-series featuring Chinese works for piano. There is a considerable body of Chinese music composed for the piano, the majority of which have been either folk song arrangements, inspired by folk music or traditional Chinese melodies or
poetic little lyric pieces with poetic titles. The current program is an outstanding overview of the history of Chinese piano music from the 1930s to the early 1980s.
