Slade: a box set that questions whether punk really needed to happen at all
All The World Is A Stage is a five-CD set of live albums from the mighty Slade, three of them previously unreleased. All The World Is A Stage is as you like it: Slade banging it out with loose, licentious ferocity, so brutish and raucous that you begin to question whether punk needed to happen, and you keep checking that a fleet of jumbo jets hasn’t landed in your ear canals.
There’s Noddy Holder defying the laws of biology with a larynx made of sandpaper; Dave Hill convinced that if the same guy signed Hendrix and him then he himself must be a mean guitarist (at one show he bursts into a blast of Purple Haze); Jim Lea just about holding the gang together musically, bringing violins to thrashing mobs; and Don Powell somehow both keeping it grounded and racing ahead so the others have to turn it up from 11 to 9,000. What a racket. What a riot. Arguably, nobody did adrenalin better.

Slade are an English rock band from Wolverhampton. They rose to prominence during the glam rock era in the early 1970s, achieving 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart. The British Hit Singles & Albums names them as the most successful British group of the 1970s based on sales of singles. They were the first act to have three singles enter the charts at number one; all six of the band's chart-toppers were penned by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea…

Slade in Flame is a tough album to judge. It marks the end of Slade's rule over the British charts the album went to number six (the band's previous four LPs reached number one), but it would be nearly ten years before the band would return to the top of the pops. Made as an accompanying piece to the movie of the same name, Slade in Flame was different than the group's other records. It's an artistic tour de force for a band that was looked on as "just a good time." Although Slade was that, the band had a lot more in its bag of tricks, and this album shows it. Most folks (if not all) were expecting Slade to come out with a Monkees-type movie: lots of slapstick and a funny, lighthearted good time.

Nobody's Fools is the fifth studio album by the British rock group Slade. It was released in March, 1976 and reached position #14 on the UK album charts. It was also their first album (since their rise to fame) not to reach the UK Top 10, and to drop out of the chart after a chart run of only 4 weeks. It would be their last album that would make an appearance on the chart until 1980s compilation Slade Smashes!. The album also showed the band dropping their 'loud' and 'rocky' type songs, and move towards a more 'American' soul/pop sound. British fans accused Noddy Holder and Jim Lea as 'selling out' and forgetting about their fanbase in the UK, as the band had been in the States for most of 1975, trying to crack the market. The album peaked at #14 in Sweden.

Slade may have never truly caught on with American audiences (often narrow-mindedly deemed "too British-sounding"), but the group became a sensation in their homeland with their anthemic brand of glam rock in the early '70s, as they scored a staggering 11 Top Five hits in a four-year span from 1971 to 1974 (five of which topped the charts)…

Uriah Heep was one of a handful of important progressive rock bands to emerge from Britain during the 1970s, alongside Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Formed in London in 1969, the band debuted in explosive fashion way back in 1970, rapidly following their heavy metal-pioneering first record "Very 'Eavy …Very 'Umble" with a string of classics, including the definitive Heep album "Demons and Wizards" and "The Magician's Birthday", both from 1972, arguably two of the founding documents of the hard rock subgenres known as progressive metal and power metal.

For those that have read my reviews and know me as a person, you know I’m a huge Tigertailz fan. Since the very beginning, when Steevi Jaimz fronted the band, they just set the standard (for me at least) for glam rock and the glam look and imagery. Those pictures and sounds from the first album Young And Crazy became a milestone album for me along with Mötley Crüe’s Too Fast For Love and is still, to this day, on my playlist. The next album Bezerk, with the black leather and color-splashed hair and even more musically bombastic sound, set the stage for a lifelong adoration.
