Collected all the LP's and 45's originally released during those golden years…remember when Maestro Percy Faith was cranking out beautiful arrangements in the early to mid '50s for singers of the Columbia Record stables (Tony Bennett, Rosie Clooney, Doris Day, Johnny Mathis and Guy Mitchell) to name just a few…but his true and real ambition was arranging tunes of the yesterday and composing songs of his own…now enters the album of "I THINK I LOVE YOU", plus bonus tracks featuring countless melodies of the singles from the '60s and '70s…all arranged in perfect order by Mr. Faith…all under the watchful eye of Mitch Miller (head of artist and repertoire department) of Columbia Records.
Whoever thought of putting together the 'oldies' albums , (under the brand name of 'Collectables'), as one joint collection in a cd, honestly needs to be awarded a prize. This is one of Ray Conniff's finest contributions to the music of the 70's era. The mellow, refreshing voices of the Ray Conniff Singers & the superb clarity of sound lend a special blend of irresistable charm to this CD.

This is a beautiful 3 LP Box set that comes with an informative book (high quality scans included). Ripped from a brand new sealed vinyl copy. Sounds fantastic! Enjoy! I've always felt that the comparative lack of attention received by Dwike Mitchell and Willie Ruff, despite their travels to South America and Russia (they were apparently more foreign to American ears) and a book written about them by William Zinsser, was due to their academic affiliations and absence from sessions featuring major players (Willie's name would show up on some orchestra sessions as a French horn player, but that was about it). Despite owning three albums by them, I don't think I've ever met anyone who has heard of them let alone heard them. So the discovery of this date with Dizzy Gillespie comes as a pleasant surprise.
5 complete LPs presented on 2 companion volumes! Featuring Carl Perkins, Jimmy Rowles, Barney Kessel and Don Fagerquist! Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw were among the most famous and beloved figures in swing music both as clarinet soloists and orchestra conductors. They were still very active musically in 1957, when Buddy De Franco decided to record a series of sessions paying homage to them. Thirty-five performances were recorded (including four medleys containing three songs each) in four extended sessions made on four consecutive days and with two different groups (guitarist Barney Kessel, however, is present on most of the tracks).
