Australian slide guitarist Dave Hole is noted for his energetic, high-volume rock & roll/blues music and unusual playing style. Though left-handed, Hole plays guitar right-handed and developed a technique to compensate for a finger injury in which he places his fingers over the top of the neck. He also uses a pick for a slide and utilizes fingerpicking when playing normally. Collection includes: Short Fuse Blues (1992); Working Overtime (1993); Ticket To Chicago (1997); Under The Spell (1999); Rough Diamond (2007).

This recording of Bach's great Mass in B Minor has none of the mannered control and deadening pace of other recordings I've heard. It is satisfyingly passionate and exuberant. The production is vibrant - turn up the volume – each voice and each instrument can be distinctly heard. The chorus pieces are startlingly clear. If you own only one copy of Mass in B Minor this is the one.

Given that this was co-produced by Al Jackson (of Booker T. & the MG's) and Willie Mitchell (of Hi Records), and adds embellishment by the Memphis Horns, it's unsurprising that this is very much a soul-blues record. It's a workmanlike effort with an early-'70s Stax period feel, including remakes of two of his past R&B singles, "Think" and "Just Got to Know." The CD reissue adds a couple of previously unreleased bonus tracks.

Razormaid was started in the mid 80's by Joseph Watt and Art Maharg in San Francisco, California as a music service for working club DJs.
