Based on the book of the same name by H.S. Ede, eccentric director Ken Russell created this biographical drama of a great early 20th century artist who died tragically young. Henri Gaudier (Scott Anthony) is only 18 years old, a self-taught Parisian sculptor of enormous talent but prone to rash, exuberant behavior. Henri meets and begins a platonic but emotionally intense relationship with Sophie Brzeksa (Dorothy Tutin), a cultured Polish woman 20 years his senior. The relationship between Henri and Sophie remains inspired and impassioned, if not sexual, and her air of intelligent refinement positively impacts his life and work.
Biographical film of the life of French sculptor Henri Gaudier-Brzeska.
Arch Enemy are a Swedish melodic death metal band, originally a supergroup, from Halmstad, formed in 1996. It was founded by Carcass guitarist Michael Amott along with Johan Liiva, who were both originally from the influential death metal band Carnage. The band has released nine studio albums, a live album (Burning Japan Live 1999), two DVDs and three EPs. The band was originally fronted by Johan Liiva, who was replaced by German Angela Gossow as lead vocalist in 2000.
Our exclusive CD A Tribute to Metallica shows what different traits the admiration of the US Thrash heroes can take.
The wait is over: Arch Enemy are back with the follow up to 2017's 'Will To Power', and they have never sounded hungrier. Delivering a collection of the tightest, most streamlined, and, more importantly extreme metal, 'Deceivers' is comprised of 11 tracks that will have their fan base salivating. Every track is ruthlessly catchy and mercilessly violent, and with the likes of 'Deceiver, Deceiver', 'House Of Mirrors', 'Handshake With Hell' or 'Poisoned Arrow' the Swedish quintet have never sounded better. A huge portion of melodies and a downright overdose of sheer power. Arch Enemy are solid as a rock when it comes to "pure fucking metal". The guitar harmonies delivered by one of the greatest axe-duos in this day and age - Michael Amott and Jeff Loomis - in combination with the unmistakable voice of singer Alissa White-Gluz is everything a metal-maniac can ask for. They take no prisoners!
Arch Enemy we be releasing a new live DVD, As the Stages Burn!, in March 2017. The footage will show Arch Enemy’s largest stage production to date from the band’s Wacken Open Air set last summer. As the Stages Burn! marks the pinnacle of Arch Enemy’s War Eternal cycle — the band’s first record with former Agonist vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. Arch Enemy gave fans a DVD, War Eternal Tour: Tokyo Sacrifice, earlier this year, but the Wacken set captured for this next DVD is expected to exceed previous releases.
I do think that this Decca set is arguably the best compilation reissue of such a bulk of Handel work which has been released in a long time, just in time to commemorate the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the passing of il caro Sassone. There is a lot in this box, absence of libretti notwithstanding. The enclosed booklet is essential to navigate you through the track listings and timings and little else but a small general essay on GFH.By John Van Note
