CHRISTIE shot to fame in the early 70′s with a number 1 Hit single in no less than 26 countries (it also made Billboard Top 30 in USA) “Yellow River”. Written by band leader JEFF CHRISTIE who was awarded the prestigious IVOR NOVELLO and CARL ALLAN awards for this classic song. Jeff has had his songs recorded by REM to LEAPY LEE to QUICKSILVER. Further Hit singles followed around the world “San Bernadino” and “Iron Horse”. The bands debut album spent 10 weeks in the US charts. The band became known as England’s answer to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Jeff has been back in the studio reviewing his masters and all the tracks on this 2CD set were recorded in the 1970′s by Christie during a particularly prolific period in their career. Christie continues today to perform all over the world and has a particular strong fan base in Europe and South America where the band performs sold out concerts each year. THIS much-anticipated set was released in 2012 and contains 40 of Jeff's unreleased songs from the 70s. While most of them feature Jeff alone in the studio, there are several which were recorded by the band as demos and possible single or album releases.

George Brigman sounded like a man out of time on his rare mid-'70s debut, Jungle Rot (though it's not so rare anymore, having been reissued both legitimately and illegitimately on several labels). Unlike the oncoming punks and new wavers, he had an obvious affinity as a keeper of the flame of classic rock forms, most particularly the late-'60s/early-'70s blues-rock of British bands such as the Groundhogs. Yet if this was blues-rock, it was blues-rock the D.I.Y. way, recorded on his own with a mass of hazy distorted guitar lines…

The year was 1947: World War II was over and there was music in the air, with Frank Sinatra making teenagers swoon. On other airways, primarily black radio stations, another, earthier music was being played which would become the foundation for what is now called rock & roll. Back then it was called the blues and rhythm & blues, and its voices had names like Wynonie Harris, Willie Dixon, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Among its musicians were Big Bill Broonzy, Hosea Sapp, and Thunder Smith. This CD is part of a series that chronicles the history of this music that was to have such an impact on rock & roll. This volume collects some of the great hits of 1947, when many baby boomers were born, who would go on to become the major supporters of the idiom…
