This book is for the patient with a heart problem that may need to be explained in layman's terms. I have nothing against doctors, but sometimes they neither have the time nor the ability to explain things so patients can understand what kind of heart disease they have and how it's treated.

"That'll Flat… Git It!" is one of the best compilations of the 1950's rockabilly. Each volume contains nearly 30 songs, mostly rockabilly classics and unknown great artists. In spite the tracks were remastered, you can hear some noise, especially in the end of the tracks. This is because many songs were taken from original vinyl singles.

CAPTIVE HEART was a pure American AOR Melodic Rock band from Chicago, one of the many that arrived too late into the scene but deserved the stardom. They recorded this bunch of songs in 1991-92 to land a U.S. deal. Luckily a German label released the tapes in 1996 as "Home Of The Brave", and what an impressive material it is. Much in the style of James Christian (Giuffria, House Of Lords), a la Drive She Said with hints of House Of Lords and Storming Heaven. Jim Peterik (Survivor, Pride Of Lions) also lent his extensive songwriting skills to some of the fabulous tunes.

When you take the plunge into a Joe Meek rarity CD, you have fair warning that you're not going to encounter many lost masterworks. This compilation of 29 tracks by female singers he worked with in the early and mid-'60s, though, is one of the better ones on the market. None of these – by the likes of Jenny Moss, Gunilla Thorn, Kim Roberts, and Yolanda – were hits (ten tracks weren't even previously released), and frankly they didn't deserve to be, due to the extremely innocuous and slight nature of the material. That's not, however, what Meek connoisseurs are seeking with these archival releases. You want examples of Meek's inimitable outer space bathroom production techniques, whether highly polished or in progress, and you get them here, via the Casper-the-ghost strings, compressed percussion, and spooky keyboards. Which makes it a not half-bad document if you've got the Meek bug, even if the songs themselves are completely overshadowed by their embellishments, although the odd tune (Jenny Moss' "Hobbies," Pamela Blue's "Hey There Stranger," and especially Glenda Collins' dramatic "Baby It Hurts") carried some hit potential.

The arrangements, the compositions, and the joy of Buck Clayton's playing are celebrated during this live concert. The music looks back toward both the trumpeter's work as a member of Count Basie's Orchestra and his legendary Columbia jam sessions of the 1950s. The interesting mainstream group mixes together a few lesser-known Europeans trombonist Jerry Tilitz, Antti Sarpila on reeds, pianist Brian Dee and bassist Len Skeat with trumpeter/arranger Randy Sandke (who does a superb job of taking Clayton's place), the tenors of Harry Allan and Danny Moss, baritonist Scott Robinson and drummer Butch Miles. The music really swings and has among its many highlights "All the Cats Join In," "Robbins Nest," "Jumpin' at the Woodside" and "Rock-A-Bye Basie."
