Brazilian technical metal monsters Sepultura grew slowly from a devotion to the legends of their genre, eventually becoming the most successful metal band in Brazil's history as well as a worldwide influence. Founding member Max Cavalera sang and played guitar in the band until a deeply personal dispute over management led him to unceremoniously leave the band in 1996. While the other members carried on with a replacement vocalist, subsequent Sepultura albums never had quite the flair or force of those groundbreaking earlier works. The Complete Max Cavalera Collection 1987-1996 gathers together all 56 tracks from the first five albums, including the incredibly influential mid-'90s releases Arise and Roots.

High Wheel's history begins in late-80's, when Wolfgang Hierl and Erich Kogler set themselves apart from the thrash metal scene and their band ''The Hammers'', searching for more melodic and refined musical paths. Their new project would never become true, if they hadn't met excellent drummer Uli Jenne and after a few rehearsals they decided to form officially a new progressive rock act. With the addition of Andreas Lobinger on keyboards their debut ''1910'' came out in 1993 as a private press, recorded at Tonstudio Rixner near Tegernsee…

The second Cosmic Jokers album, though originally not released under their name, offers another pair of sidelong roller-coaster rides into the cosmic void from the same musicians as the first album, with added vocals from guitarist Göttsching's girlfriend, Rosi Muller, and producer Kaiser's girlfriend Gille Lettmann. Whereas the Ash Ra Tempel elements were more dominant on the earlier record, this one relies more heavily on the conventional psychedelic sounds of the Wallenstein faction, though not to the point where it loses that loose Ash Ra vibe. Side one, "Kinder des Alles," begins with a funky driven beat before collapsing into a strange synth-saturated sound, falling deep into ambient space until eventually the track propels back into another galloping rhythm.
