The best dance songs are about dancing. Dance music is self-referential: Here is a song about dancing that will make you dance. It’s a simple transaction. There’s a magic to it, an acknowledgement that the song is a tool for you to use to free yourself. “About Work The Dancefloor,” the highlight from Georgia’s new album Seeking Thrills, is conscious of its own utility. It’s a song about itself. “I was just thinking about work the dance floor,” goes its grammatically awkward hook, just the sort of self-fulfilling gibberish that is liable to get stuck in your head. It treats the dance floor as a sanctuary, a space for personal transformation and revelation. “I don’t have much in terms of money now/ I don’t have material gifts for you,” she sings on the song, her voice pleading. All she has is the music, and she wants to capture that feeling before it’s gone.

Seeking thrills is a sharply paced and fascinating album, packed with injections of lightness and fun, pared with rich, bubbling melodies that makes listening to it an experience that takes you into the party, through electro-pop into R&B, and back again. Georgia's deep, brooding reflections carry us through euphoria, heartache and melancholy but always with the memory of the good Times. Heavily inspired by Chicago house and Detroit techno of the early 80s, seeking thrills fuses analogue club sounds with solid pop songwriting and showcases georgia's lifelong love affair with the drums.

The Aloof formed in 1990 and forged a reputation as one of the hardest working bands around. While other acts incorporated an electronica into a general rock sound in the early ‘90s, The Aloof were always a pioneering electronic act. Touring alongside the likes of Massive Attack and Leftfield, they released three albums with Warner’s EastWest label: Cover The Crime (1994), Sinking (1996) and Seeking Pleasure (1998). After parting ways with Warner, they were in charge of their own destiny, and formed their own ‘Screaming Target’ label as they set about making a new record.

Maria is in the city, bored with her lover Tammy. An exhibitionist, she answers an ad in the "New York Review of Sex." She's invited to a house in Vermont, owned by an eccentric named Spencer, a man who likes to watch. Maria goes, seeking thrills. She meets women who spend their days rehearsing for shows staged for Spencer. He has a concoction of aphrodisiacs, and the women are happy to take the drugs and play - with each other, for the camera, in front of Spencer, and with Boris, Spencer's assistant who runs the household. Maria throws herself into the games. Which person will prove to be the ultimate degenerate?
