A Switzerland-based hard rock act formed in 1997, Shakra went through a number of lineup changes (including a vocalist change when the bands' momentum was just gaining attention) but managed to persevere and keep going for over two decades. Their first album, 1998's Shakra, and its follow-up, 1999's Moving Force, were strong enough to earn them support slots touring with bands like Great White and Uriah Heep. Real progress was being made with their third album, Power Ride (2001), but unfortunately a health situation forced the departure of vocalist Pete Wiedmer. Mark Fox stepped in to fill the frontman role, and the band recorded and released Rising in 2003. The band was a hit on German and Swiss charts, and toured extensively in support of their work. After many live shows and tours with Hammerfall and Stratovarius, Shakra released Infected in 2007.
The fox is on the run again - Mark Fox is back together with SHAKRA! Chris von Rohr said the following after former singer John Prakesh left the band in early 2014: “Let’s bring back together what belongs together”. That being said, it took a while till the early disputes had been put aside but in late summer of 2014 it was clear to everyone that it’s time to do it again! Since that point of time, the whole band shed blood, sweat and tears to finish their new album “High Noon” which will be out on January 29th 2016. SHAKRA have signed with Universal Music for Switzerland while AFM will continue to release the album in the rest of the world.
Shakra is a Swiss hard rock band founded in the late 1990s. Life Tales is a compilation of their best ballads.
Switzerland is in the meantime known for quite some hardrock bands. Just think about Krokus, Gotthard, Crystal Ball and Shakra.Fox is the band of the former Shakra leadsinger Marc Fox. "Lucifer" is his second release after the the 2012 released called "2012". The records contains in total 11 hardrock songs. The tracks are a mix between Motley Crue, Cinderella and Gotthard with an essence of AOR here and there, esp. in the ballads
This is already the 5th full release by this Swiss combo and like on each of the previous releases the band stays true to their melodic metal sound, which falls in somewhere between that of countrymen Gotthard and Shakra…
Debut album by German melodic metal band previously known as ROSA ROCK. Produced by Kalle Trapp famous for his work with SAXON and BLIND GUARDIAN. If you like AC/DC, Victory or Pump you’ll most likely enjoy this CD! Big choruses and high amount of energy hard rock, very tight musicianship from all but especially drummer is terrific. Overall they sound as protoplast of bands like Crystal Ball,Shakra, Sun’N’Steel, Midnite Sky! DIGITAL Remaster.
Aces High are another classy hard rock outfit from Sweden. Similar in style to bands such as Thunder, XYZ, Shakra and Nevada Beach, they released their (very hard to find!) debut album in 1994. "Pull No Punches" is generally very solid melodic metal. Vocalist Bjørn Andersen has a very distinct voice, somewhere between that of Ian Gillan and Biff Byford, the guitars are solid, with strong hooks that focus more on the song than riffing away into oblivion, whilst the hammond organ adds a Deep Purple vibe to many of the tracks.
2016 marks the 20th anniversary for Germany-based metal label AFM Records. Being in the business for two decades now and working with the 'who is who' of the scene, the company is proud to present a special compilation of highlights and new tracks, titled '20 Years - Metal Addiction', to celebrate in style. Of course all the big names who were (and are) crucial for the label s evolution during the years are featured here: Doro, U.D.O., Fear Factory, Evergrey, Avantasia, Rhapsody Of Fire, Danzig, Leaves' Eyes, Edguy, Destruction, Masterplan, D-A-D, Ministry and many more. Two brand new, previously unreleased songs by Iron Mask and Eden's Curse perfectly round off this extensive release, which comes up with a total of 52 tracks on 3 CDs.
