Well known for her creative compositional style and distinct singing, Björk's recording career began in 1977 at the age of 11, when she released (as Björk Guðmundsdóttir) her first album, while studying piano and flute at music school. Although the album became platinum, she refused to make another disco-folk follow-up and, at the age of 13, formed her first short-lived punk band, all-girl alliance Spit and Snot (Saliva and Phlegm), where she played the drums. Later on she was involved in projects such as Exodus and Jam 80, all of which without known record releases…

À partir d'extraits d'entretiens audiovisuels et radiophoniques de l'écrivain, émaillés d'archives et de photographies personnelles, des images des actualités de l'époque et de séquences de films adaptés de ses romans, Pierre Assouline tisse un portrait inédit de Georges Simenon. Se racontant lui-même tout en évoquant l'ambiance de son siècle, le romancier aux deux cent soixante livres (dont soixante-douze Maigret) dévoile son enfance à Liège – dont l'atmosphère brumeuse ne cessera de baigner ses histoires –, ses débuts de journaliste, puis de conteur au journal Le matin dirigé par Colette, sa manie de collectionner les femmes, ses premiers "Maigret" et son processus de création, sa détestation des milieux d'avant-garde littéraire et de la morale "petite- bourgeoise" de son époque… Un récit ponctué par sa lecture bouleversante, parfois violente, et jamais entendue jusqu’ici, de sa Lettre à ma mère.
