For those of us who grew up on Janet Baker's recordings (and were lucky enough to hear her "live" as well), the sound of her voice and her singular artstic personality - British restraint coupled with fierce emotional and spiritual commitment - are indelibly imprinted in our minds and hearts. The closest current equivalent is Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, another superb artist who has charted her own course, and not surprisingly there is some overlap of repertoire, in the music of J.S. Bach, of course, but also Berlioz's Didon and Beatrice, Handel's Ariodante and Britten's Phaedra (composed for Baker).

During the 1990s, Collegium Musicum 90 and Simon Standage released several volumes of Albinoni concertos, which proved popular with critics and public alike. The concertos were released as discs of single oboe concertos, double oboe concertos, and string concertos. In this re-issue on the Chaconne label, the concertos are presented in opus number order, showing the contrasting colours and tonalities of the concertos as they originally appeared.

See All Her Faces is the seventh studio album by singer Dusty Springfield… It contains a mixture of tracks from different recording sessions… As a result, the album has no cohesive sound, but offers many different styles of music. The album boasts eight producers, including Springfield herself. It has been suggested that See All Her Faces is best appreciated track by track, rather than as a whole stylistic statement, as her album Dusty in Memphis is often praised to be.

BAFTA Award-winning actor Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Girl) reanimates the nineteenth-century poet John Clare through his poems and prose, paired with nine creative transcriptions from Clare's book of fiddle tunes - conceived for clarinet and violin by Julian Philips. John Clare straddled both words and music in his creative outpouring. Alongside his vivid depictions of rural life, Clare was also a prolific fiddle player and avid collector of folksongs, ballads and dances. He sought to capture an oral tradition by 'plucking out' tunes on his violin during his travels.

Simon Andrew Thomas Standage is an English violinist and conductor best known for playing and conducting music of the baroque and classical eras on original instruments. Simon Standage performs regularly with Collegium Musicum 90 and other groups and is a very well respected performer in the early-music field. In this latest recording of works by Albinoni, Simon Standage directs Collegium Musicum 90 showcasing the rarely performed and recorded Op. 10 Concertos. Most of the Op.10 concertos have not been published in a modern edition, and the set has been recorded only twice before.
