"Red Hot + Dance" is an album produced by the Red Hot Organization, an organization dedicated to raising money and awareness to fight the onslaught of HIV/AIDS. Pop star George Michael was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition and the album was notable for featuring three new songs by him. Originally intended for his aborted project "Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 2", the tracks were instead donated to this LP. Apart from "Too Funky", which was released as a charity single (along with a video featuring several "supermodels"), these tracks are exclusive to this album. George Michael later launched a legal action against record label Sony, citing their lack of support for this project as one of the reasons he no longer wished to work with them. The album also included tracks by Madonna, Seal, Lisa Stansfield and Sly & the Family Stone, and was released by Epic (Sony) in the UK. The album cover features artwork by Keith Haring.

Soul Jazz brilliantly bridges pioneering Jamaican digital dancehall to contemporary and future funk practitioners schooled in the style – the epic Invasion Of The Killer Mysteron Sounds compiled by The Bug and Stuart Baker! Mysteron Killer Sounds comes a with loose, comic book theme – "Alien Sound Lord Abductors" come to capture souls while the "Digital Defenders" have arrived to protect them – and it's fitting! The material here cherishes the hertiage of Jamaican and other points tropical dance music with sweaty, feverish rhythms – be they first wave Jamaican dancehall revolutionaries or next phase innovators.

Richard Elliot [2003] - Ricochet
Format: FLAC+CUE, 311 Mb | CBR 320kbps, 100 Mb | 43:48 min
Genre: smooth jazz, saxophone | Label: GRP Records

Ricochet is a soundtrack for seduction from beginning to end, from the laid-back, bedroom vibe of "Corner Pocket" to the bouncy funk of the title track; from the sinuous romance of "Rendezvous" to the midnight-gospel, bluesy workout on "So Good"; from the mellow grooves on "Sweet Memories" and "Seven Sacred Pools" to the party-funk of "Slam" and "Sake for Two", and the slinky, popping syncopation of "Sly". "You Make Me Feel Brand New", the only cover song, is an album highlight, a soaring, passionate version that finds Elliot wooing and cajoling with his sax, as he does better than anyone in the genre. It rivals Elliot's 1991 smash hit cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman" - which has become a staple at NAC radio and is still the pinnacle of his live concert performances.

Jagger employs a who's who including Herbie Hancock, Pete Townshend, and Jeff Beck for an album that replaces the familiar sound of the Stones with a more sophisticated but no less hard-rock sound. And the voice is familiar. Features the hit "Just Another Night." –by William Ruhlmann, allmusic.com.

This is a rather unusual tribute to Herbie Hancock on a couple different levels. There is no piano on the date, so obviously no one is heard trying to sound like Hancock; the intimate all-star trio (bassist Christian McBride, trumpeter Nicholas Payton and guitarist Mark Whitfield) avoids such typical Hancock hits as "Watermelon Man" and "Maiden Voyage," and several of the songs are real obscurities. The 14 Hancock compositions date from 1962-79, with one tune from 1985, so they do not cover his later output.

All Rebel Rockers is the first record by Franti's Spearhead that captures the power and goodwill of the band's live shows. The title track is a toasting bubbler with organic and synthetic rhythms, a female backing chorus, scratching, scratchy dub guitars, and Carl Young's uber-heavy bassline just rattling under it all. It's an invitation to a dance party at the end of the world. (…) All Rebel Rockers is drenched in it both musically and lyrically; it's a solid rhythm rocker with real politics at its heart. It's not only perfect; it's necessary!
