Controversial rap star Eminem makes his acting debut in this hard-edged urban drama, inspired in part by incidents from the musician's own life. Jimmy Smith (Eminem), known to his friends as Rabbit, is a young man trying to make his way out of the burned-out shell of inner-city Detroit. Rabbit's entire life has been a hard climb, and it certainly hasn't gotten any easier lately; Rabbit has just been dumped by his girlfriend, forcing him to move back in with his emotionally unstable mother, Stephanie (Kim Basinger), and he's getting along especially poorly with Stephanie's new boyfriend. Rabbit has a factory job that's tough, demeaning, and doesn't pay especially well, and he's convinced his skills as a rapper are his only real hope at a better life.

Reuben contains seven episodes based on "helpful" questions answered in the book. Among these are: "Do Aphrodisiacs Work?", in which Allen appears as a court jester who uses a love potion to spark the erotic interests of the Queen. "What Is Sodomy?" stars Gene Wilder as a doctor who throws away his marriage, career, and position in the community when he falls madly in love with an Armenian sheep named Daisy. "Why Do Some Women Have Trouble Reaching Orgasm?" is a parody of stylish Italian films of the '60s in which a slick playboy discovers his wife can climax only when they make love in public places. In "Are Transvestites Homosexuals?," Sam has his little secret revealed at a most inopportune moment. "What Are Sex Researchers Actually Accomplishing?" features John Carradine in a great parody of his mad-scientist roles as Dr. Bernardo, whose research into human sexuality has led to a fearsome mutation – a 50-foot tall female breast! While the quality of the episodes is uneven, the best rank with the funniest moments of Allen's career, especially Gene Wilder's touching romance with the sheep and the final sequence inside the male body.

Homer thinks maybe they should stop at his Uncle Butch's saloon for a drink before they get home. "You're home now, kid," the older man Al tells him. Three military veterans have just returned to their hometown of Boone City, somewhere in the Midwest, and each in his own way is dreading his approaching reunion. Al's dialogue brings down the curtain on the apprehensive first act of William Wyler's "The Best Years of Our Lives" (1946). Seen more than six decades later, it feels surprisingly modern: lean, direct, honest about issues that Hollywood then studiously avoided. After the war years of patriotism and heroism in the movies, this was a sobering look at the problems veterans faced when they returned home.

Au début du vingtième siècle, Claude (Jean-Pierre Léaud), un jeune Français dandy et collectionneur (de femmes autant que d'œuvres d'art), fait la connaissance d'une jeune Anglaise, Ann (la fille d'une amie de sa mère), qui l'invite à passer ses vacances dans sa famille, au Pays de Galles. Celle-ci va lui présenter sa sœur Muriel, et va pousser Claude à tomber amoureux de sa sœur. Les deux Anglaises, puritaines, sont surprises et charmées par ce jeune Français libertaire, qu'elles appellent "le Continent". Mais le mariage escompté n'aura pas lieu entre Muriel et Claude : leurs deux mères, les pensant trop jeunes pour l'amour, décident une séparation d'un an pour mettre à l'épreuve leurs sentiments. Claude repart à Paris la mort dans l'âme et pense tenir bon. Mais sa vie de libertin reprend le dessus. Entre temps, Ann, la cadette des sœurs, s'émancipe et part à Paris pour faire de la sculpture. C'est à ce moment-là que va s'amorcer une relation entre elle et Claude, qui l'initie à la sensualité. Tout à la fois rongée par la culpabilité de tromper la confiance de sa sœur (Muriel est amoureuse de Claude) et amoureuse de Claude, Ann devient petit à petit le pendant féminin de Claude dans le Paris artistique et libertaire du début du XXe siècle. En effet, elle va prendre un autre amant (Diurka, un slave incarné par Philippe Léotard), ce que Claude aura du mal à accepter, malgré ses idées libérales en matière de couple.

The film begins in Paris, somewhere around the year 1902. Claude Roc (Leaud), a young middle-class Frenchman, meets Ann Brown (Markham), a young Englishwoman, and they become quick friends. Ann invites Claude to spend the holidays at her family's mansion, where we meet Ann's widowed mother (Marriott) and younger sister Muriel (Tendeter). During the holidays, Claude, Ann and Muriel become very close and Claude gradually falls in love with Muriel. Not fully knowing the couple's intentions, both families lay down a one-year-long separation without any contact before agreeing to get married. Claude goes back to Paris when he has many love affairs, and eleven months later he sends Muriel a break-off letter. A despondent Muriel sinks into a deep depression, and upon returning to Paris to defend her sister, Ann falls for Claude. This instigates a love triangle that consumes the threesome for the next twenty years.
