Pebbles is an extensive series of compilation albums in both LP and CD formats that have been issued on several record labels, though mostly by AIP. Together with the companion Highs in the Mid-Sixties series, the Pebbles series made available over 800 obscure, mostly American "Original Punk Rock" songs recorded in the mid-1960s - primarily known today as the garage rock and psychedelic rock genres - that were previously known only to a handful of collectors. In 2007, the release of the Pebbles, Volume 11: Northern California CD marked the final album in the Pebbles series (curiously, Vol. 12 had been issued in 1999).
Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg…

This 5xCD box set from Cherry Red offers a compelling look at shoegaze's prime era. Still in a Dream takes a wide trawl approach to its genre, which has upsides and downsides. As with Rhino’s goth box A Life Less Lived, shoegaze is generously interpreted to include antecedents and formative influences, which bulks up the quality.

Peter Kuhlmann, aka Pete Namlook, founder of the FAX +49-69/450464 label, passed away unexpectedly in 2012, leaving behind an incredible catalog of hundreds of releases, composed by himself and/or collaborators from around the world, full of electronic music like no one had ever heard before. Namlook's passing is a great loss to the entire electronic music community and this is a tribute compilation worthy of recognizing the tremendous impact he had on the world of electronic music. The result is Die Welt ist Klang, consisting of 4 CDs of tracks from FAX +49-69/450464 artists, plus 4 CDs of tracks from fans, all housed in a handsome wooden box. Many of these tracks were written especially for this compilation, some are lost tracks which have never seen the light of day, while some have been previously released…
