Like the Velvet Underground, their most obvious influence, the chart success of the Jesus and Mary Chain was virtually nonexistent, but their artistic impact was incalculable; quite simply, the Scottish group made the world safe for white noise, orchestrating a sound dense in squalling feedback that served as an inspiration to everyone from My Bloody Valentine to Dinosaur Jr. Though the supporting players drifted in and out of focus, the heart of the Mary Chain remained vocalists and guitarists William and Jim Reid, Scottish-born brothers heavily influenced not only by underground legends like the Velvets and the Stooges but also by the sonic grandeur and pop savvy of Phil Spector and Brian Wilson. Steeltown is the second studio album by Scottish band Big Country. The album was recorded at ABBA's Polar Studios in Stockholm with Steve Lillywhite producing. It was released on 19 October 1984, in the UK and 29 October 1984, in the United States. Steeltown is the band's only UK number 1 album, topping the chart for 1 week in October 1984. The title track Steeltown was written about the town of Corby, telling how many Scots went to work at the Stewarts & Lloyds steelworks when it opened in 1935, at the height of the Great Depression, but later found themselves unemployed when the steelworks declined in the early 1980s. The 1996 reissue contains all of the B-sides from the album's single releases as well as the extended version of "Wonderland".

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of Demons Down, a new band featuring two talented up-and-coming musicians - vocalist James Robledo (Sinner's Blood) and guitarist Francesco Savino (False Memories) - along with hard rock scene veterans guitarist Jimi Bell (House Of Lords, Autograph), drummer Ken Mary (ex-House of Lords, Alice Cooper, Fifth Angel) and bassist Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot, ex-House Of Lords). Debut album "I Stand" sees this gathering of young performers and established skill players delivering a quintessential classic hard rock album. Demons Down traffics in a hard rock sound that references the late 80s/early 90s movement where massive hooks, huge melodies and lush keyboards were the order of the day. But this is no simple exercise in paying tribute to yesteryear as the music rocks hard to compliment the vocal talents of Robledo (who has sonically been compared to the likes of Jorn Lande and Russell Allen). Fans of early House Of Lords material and their sonic peers from that time period as well as Robledo's debut solo album, "Wanted Man", will have much to enjoy here.
