Stan Getz Poetry

This 1976 album by the late saxophonist Stan Getz is a reunion of sorts with Joao Gilberto, the great Brazilian guitarist and singer, and the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim (or Tom Jobim), along with the stylish and nonintrusive arrangements of Oscar Carlos Neves. The trio changed the world in the early 1960s with its Getz/Gilberto albums. With Neves, they almost did it again, but with all of the crap falling down around them in the musical climate of the mid-'70s - fusion, disco, overblown rock, and the serious decline of jazz - this disc was criminally overlooked at the time. Baden Powell de Aquino, widely known as Baden Powell and born in the city of Varre-Sai in Rio de Janeiro, is immensely revered as a premier acoustic guitarist in Brazil. Baden created a guitar style that is unmatched – a classical guitar technique with popular music harmony and phrasing. Baden became known for his Bossa Nova tunes, samba, and Brazilian instrumental songs, a Brazilian style of Jazz, and MPB. His father liked scouting therefore naming his son Baden Powell after the founder of the Boys Scouts Robert Baden Powell.

Classical music and jazz have reached their highest peaks through a perfect formation: the quartet. String quartet for one, quartet with trumpet (or saxophone), piano, double bass and drums for the other. Daring to bring these two poles together is David Enhco's bet with his new creation Family Tree.
