The Swedish vocal trio known as Spin Gallery may be a little soft for some Sea of Tranquility regulars, but Standing Tall merits mention here because it's full of exquisitely performed ear candy that won't leave you feeling empty inside. On Standing Tall, Christian Antblad, Kristoffer Lagerstrom and Magnus Weidenmo sing a dozen songs, most of them written by Tommy Denander, who's worked with the likes of Marcel Jacob (Malmsteen, Talisman), Tony Franklin (Blue Murder, Lana Lane), Fergie Frederiksen (Toto), Steve Overland (Alan Parsons) and Fee Waybill (The Tubes). With roots firmly planted in the Eighties, this is an album packed with soaring harmonies ("To Hell and Back"), melodic rockers ("Standing Tall") and atmospheric ballads ("Grace"). I could do without some of the boy-band influences ("Am I Wrong") and Peter Cetera sound-alikes ("Need to Be Free"), but most of Standing Tall is a high-caliber pop record that offers a refreshing and lighter change of pace.

Australian melodic rock band The Radio Sun will release their new album, titled "Beautiful Strange" on August 24 via Pride & Joy Music Germany and Anderstein Music Japan, with pre-order details to be announced shortly. This will be the fifth full-length album released by the band, their fifth album in five years. Produced by the band, the album was mixed by Paul Laine (Dark Horse, The Defiants) and mastered by Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger, The Defiants). The Radio Sun recently returned from shows at Melodic Rock Fest in the United States and Sweden Rock Fest to glowing reviews. The Radio Sun has already been confirmed for next year's HRH AOR Fest in the UK with shows in Japan t.b.a. Vocalist Jase Old and guitarist Stevie Janevski have written their strongest album to date with a focus on catchy songs and layered vocal harmonies with a guitar edge. The band is rounded out by Anthony Wong on bass and Gilbert Annese on drums.
Eric Gales was already guitar wiz at 16 years old in 1991 when his debut album appeared from Elektra Records, and his immense skill and talent have certainly not diminished since. This set, released by Cleopatra Records and produced by Raphael Saadiq, is vintage blues-rock and features guest spots from Eric Johnson and Zakk Wylde.
