Laser Shock Processing of FCC Metals: Mechanical Properties and Micro-structural Strengthening Mechanism (Repost)

Laser Shock Processing of FCC Metals: Mechanical Properties and Micro-structural Strengthening Mechanism by Yongkang Zhang, Jinzhong Lu, Kaiyu Luo
English | PDF | 2013 | 199 Pages | ISBN : 3642356737 | 9.7 MB

Laser shock processing (LSP) is a new and promising surface treatment technique for improving the fatigue durability, corrosion, wear resistance and other mechanical properties of metals and alloys. During LSP, the generated shock wave can introduce a deep compressive residual stress into the material, due to its high-pressure (GPa-TPa), ultra-fast (several tens nanoseconds), ultra-high strain-rate and high-energy. The overall properties and behavior of metal materials subjected to LSP were significantly improved because a refined surface layer was successfully obtained. Nevertheless, up to now, a clear scenery between micro-structure and macro-property of the refined surface layer, especially formation of sub-micrometer grains from coarse grains during severe plastic deformation, is still pending. Therefore, the basic studies of the underlying mechanism for grain refinement by ultra-high strain-rate presented in this book becomes more and more crucial.

Fundamentals of Strength: Principles, Experiments, and Applications of an Internal State Variable Constitutive Formulation by Paul Follansbee
English | EPUB | 2022 | 546 Pages | ISBN : 3031045556 | 36.8 MB

This second edition updates and expands on the class-tested first edition text, augmenting discussion of dynamic strain aging and austenitic stainless steels and adding a section on analysis of nickel-base superalloys that shows how the mechanical threshold stress (MTS) model, an internal state variable constitutive formulation, can be used to de-convolute synergistic effects. The new edition retains a clear and rigorous presentation of the theory, mechanistic basis, and application of the MTS model. Students are introduced to critical competencies such as crystal structure, dislocations, thermodynamics of slip, dislocation–obstacle interactions, deformation kinetics, and hardening through dislocation accumulation.

Publisher: Wiley | ISBN: 3527301133 | 2002 | Pages: 1411 | PDF | 132 MB

This two-volume set covers current knowledge on all aspects of polyester synthesis, structure, properties (chemical, physical and application relevant) and recycling. The most important technical polyesters are presented in detailed chapters, homogeneous polymers as well as copolymers, blends and high-performance reinforced polyester materials are discussed. Handbook of Thermoplastic Polyesters is directed towards chemists, physicists and engineers working in research, development and application of polymers.

E. J. Murray, V. Sivakumar, "Unsaturated Soils: A fundamental interpretation of soil behaviour"
English | 2010 | ISBN: 1444332120 | PDF | 304 pages | 5,3 MB

An understanding of the mechanical properties of unsaturated soils is crucial for geotechnical engineers worldwide, as well as to those concerned with the interaction of structures with the ground. This book deals principally with fine-grained clays and silts, or soils containing coarser sand and gravel particles but with a significant percentage of fines.
