La parola téchne esprime il modo in cui i Greci pensavano l’agire dell’uomo: per sua natura fondato sul divenire, sull’oscillare delle cose tra l’essere e il nulla. Le radici della violenza e dell’alienazione dell’Occidente stanno proprio qui, nell’idea che l’essere nasca e finisca nello stesso nulla, a cui così si riduce il senso stesso dell’esistenza. Osservando la situazione mondiale così come si presentava alla fine degli anni Settanta, Emanuele Severino ha inquadrato l’anima più profonda della nostra società. Returning to the Greek understanding of art to rethink its capacities, Creation and the Function of Art focuses on the relationship between techné and phusis (nature). Moving away from the theoretical Platonism which dominates contemporary understandings of art, this book instead reinvigorates Aristotelian causation.

Since 2015 Jazzrausch Bigband has been in residence at Harry Klein in Munich, a club renowned for its house and techno acts as well as for its stunning live visuals; this cooperation between a techno club and a big band is truly unique in the world. From its base at the club, the pioneering ensemble has defined a completely new genre, “techno jazz”. The band’s music is getting noticed on the other side of the Atlantic too: Jazzrausch Bigband has performed at New York’s Lincoln Center, and Downbeat magazine has pinpointed this unusual band’s remarkable strengths: “A high-voltage performance with party atmosphere and yet plenty of experimentation. The mix of jazz and techno initially might seem surprising, but actually makes perfect sense.”
