Television produced just two studio albums before their implosion and much of their reputation rested on their ferocious live performances in small venues. In 1978, with bassist Fred Smith and drummer Billy Ficca keeping things solid, the twin guitars of Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd were taking rock improvisation to new altitudes. The New York downtown scene produced some great bands but none greater or more innovative than Verlaine's Television. Performed at the legendary 'My Father’s Place' club at the height of their considerable powers, on June 9th in Roslyn, New York, for broadcast by WLIR-FM. Tom Verlaine - guitar & vocals; Richard Lloyd - guitar; Fred Smith - bass; Billy Ficca - drums.

UK collection. Escape in Time comprises musical themes from some of the most extraordinary and enduring British television programs of the 1960s. This was an exciting period of innovation, when the medium was thrillingly new and malleable, before television's artistic boundaries, its aesthetic criteria, had been established. Adventure series like The Avengers, Danger Man, The Saint and The Prisoner came both to symbolize the 1960s and reflect its preoccupations… affluence, espionage, the sexual revolution. Patrick McGoohan's monumental political allegory, The Prisoner brought subversion and surrealism into the home in breath-taking fantasy style which continues to speak to us.

Dr. John's debut for GRP doesn't deviate from any release he's made for several other labels. It's still his chunky, humorous take on New Orleans funk; these are his songs, visions and performances, and there's none of the elevator material or laidback, detached fare that's a customary GRP byproduct. Such songs as "Witchy Red," "Spaceship Relationship" and the title selection are a delicate mix of seemingly outrageous but actually quite sharp commentary and excellent musical performances from Dr. John on keyboards, Hugh McCracken on guitar, and several other veterans, among them the great Red Tyler on tenor sax. While not quite as fiery as his classic sessions for Atlantic, if anyone can bring the funk to a company that's famous for avoiding it, it's Dr. John.

Yared won an Academy Award for his score to Anthony Minghella’s The English Patient, which also won him a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and a Grammy. Yared was originally known for his work in French cinema, starting with Jean-Luc Godard and later Jean-Jacques Beineix (Betty Blue) and Jean-Jacques Annaud (The Lover). He also composed ballet music for works such as Clavigo for The Paris Opera and Wayne McGregor’s Raven Girl for The Royal Opera Ballet.“I hope that by listening to some of my film music and just closing your eyes, you can imagine and invent your own film. This is what music aims for, just any kind of music: to trigger the imagination and let you create your own images, your own world.” – Gabriel Yared
