Another in the long line of soundtracks by Tangerine Dream is actually one of the strongest in concept for any film they have done. The movie has a high degree of tension and the score by T.D. does just the trick. They use mostly hard driving sequencer rhythms to maintain the tension of the film. Listeners will find that this is nearly how all of the music is composed. There is very little melody within the structures of the music. But even with this lacking, the score is very well suited and very listenable. A couple of nonsequencer tracks are also on the album and break up the hard rhythms pieces.

The Virgin Years 1977-1983 is the follow-up to last year's The Virgin Years 1974-1978 (see review) by Tangerine Dream (TD). The latter album was a 3CD-box set comprising the five remastered albums TD recorded for Virgin Records between 1974 and 1978: Phaedra (1974), Rubycon (1975), Ricochet (1975), Stratosfear (1976) and Cyclone (1978) plus a selection of rare single releases, 7-inch edits as well as two rarely heard radio adverts. However, it didn't contain Encore, originally released in 1977. The follow-up to this previous release contains seven albums plus two singles all packed on a 5CD-album set.

Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear (1976) [Japanese Limited SHM-SACD 2015] PS3 ISO + DSD64 + Hi-Res FLAC

Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear (1976) [Japanese SHM-SACD 2015]
PS3 Rip | SACD ISO | DSD64 2.0 > 1-bit/2.8224 MHz | 35:11 minutes | Scans included | 1015 MB
or DSD64 2.0 (from SACD-ISO to Tracks.dsf) > 1-bit/2.8224MHz | Full Scans included | 944 MB
or FLAC (carefully converted & encoded to tracks) 24bit/96kHz | Full Scans included | 738 MB

Stratosfear is the eighth album by the German group Tangerine Dream. Stratosfear combines Tangerine Dream's acoustic and electronic influences more tightly than before. For instance, at the end of the last track, "Invisible Limits", the deep piano/flute tune reveals the album's romantic flavour even after the earlier predominantly synthetic compositions (tracks #1 to last part of track #4). It was Peter Baumann's last studio album with the group.
Tangerine Dream - Ricochet (1975) [Japanese Limited SHM-SACD 2015] PS3 ISO + DSD64 + Hi-Res FLAC

Tangerine Dream - Ricochet (1975) [Japanese SHM-SACD 2015]

or DSD64 2.0 (from SACD-ISO to Tracks.dsf) > 1-bit/2.8224 MHz | Full Scans included | 953 MB
or FLAC (carefully converted & encoded to tracks) 24bit/96 kHz | Full Scans included | 850 MB

Ricochet is the first live album and seventh album overall by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream, released in 1975. It consists of two side-long compositions mixed from recordings of the UK and France portions of their August–October 1975 European Tour. The sound of the album is similar to that of the group's other "Virgin Years" releases, relying heavily on synthesizers and sequencers to produce a dense, ambient soundscape, but is much more energetic than their previous works. Ricochet uses more percussion and electronic guitar than its predecessors Phaedra and Rubycon, and borders on electronic rock. The main innovation on the album is the use of complex, multi-layered rhythms, foreshadowing the band's own direction in the 1980s and trance music and similar genres of electronic dance music.
Tangerine Dream - Rubycon (1975) [Japanese Limited SHM-SACD 2015] PS3 ISO + DSD64 + Hi-Res FLAC

Tangerine Dream - Rubycon (1975) [Japanese SHM-SACD 2015]

or FLAC (carefully converted & encoded to tracks) 24bit/96 | Full Scans included | 730 MB

Rubycon is the sixth studio album by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream, released in 1975. It is widely regarded as one of their best albums. Rubycon further develops the Berlin School sequencer-based sound they ushered in with the title track from Phaedra.

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra (1974) [Japanese SHM-SACD 2015]

or FLAC (carefully converted & encoded to tracks) 24bit/96kHz | Full Scans included | 789 MB

Phaedra is the fifth studio album by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream. It was recorded during November 1973 at The Manor in Shipton-on-Cherwell, England and released on 20 February 1974 through Virgin Records. This is the first Tangerine Dream album to feature their now classic sequencer-driven sound, which launched the Berlin School genre.
