Californian Soil the long awaited new studio album from London Grammar. Featuring the new singles Baby It’s You and Californian Soil. The album is another leap forward in sound, production and songcraft. It blends electronica, pop and symphonic sounds with Hannah Reid's once in a generation voice.
Truth Is A Beautiful Thing is the stunning new album from acclaimed British trio London Grammar, and the follow up to their debut album If You Wait, which has sold almost 2 million copies worldwide. Truth Is A Beautiful Thing was written by Hannah Reid, Dominic 'Dot' Major, and Dan Rothman - who poured their experiences from 30 months on the road into the new material. The album features production from Oscar-winning songsmith Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Bloc Party), Mercury nominated Jon Hopkins (Coldplay, Brian Eno, King Creosote) and Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia, Beck), Tim Bran (La Roux, The Verve) and Roy Kerr (Birdy, James) who also worked on the band's debut, If You Wait.
André Previn's 1975 EMI recording of Carmina Burana sounds better than ever in this new transfer. The analog tape hiss has been tamed, yet there's more "air" between the notes and a greater sense of dynamic and timbral definition. Engineering-wise, the mid-70s were golden years for EMI, and the rhythmic verve, dramatic momentum, and unbuttoned joy that Previn and his brilliant forces project still pack a sonic wallop. The soloists especially are outstanding. Thomas Allen navigates Orff's cruelly high tessitura with no effort, and Sheila Armstrong wraps her warm, flexible pipes around "In trutina mentis dubia" to moving effect.
