NOW is proud to present the next instalment in our ongoing ‘Yearbook’ series, and the final one representing an individual year from the 1980s: NOW – Yearbook 1989. 78 tracks across 4CDs – celebrating a magnificent and eclectic year in pop!

Following the huge success of NOW That’s What I Call Timeless in 2022, NOW Music are pleased to announce the follow up, NOW That’s What I Call Legendary – Out 26th May – more legendary songs from legendary artists! Kicking off this hit-packed album with ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ from one of the greatest bands of all time – Queen, followed by the massively popular ‘Sweet Caroline’ from Neil Diamond and the superb vocals on ‘There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)’ from Eurythmics, indicating how truly legendary this line up is. Blondie, The Police and Elton John follow, before ‘Maggie May’ from Rod Stewart and smash hits from Electric Light Orchestra, Paul McCartney & Wings and The Beach Boys. Every episode of BBC Radio 2’s popular Sounds Of The 80s show takes listeners on a journey back to a well-loved decade with its distinctive musical landscape. NOW Music are delighted to present NOW – Yearbook Extra 1983 featuring 60 additional tracks from the stellar pop goldmine that was 1983. Released as a limited edition 3-disc set, we hope the collectors will find it a great compliment to their collection – and the more casual pop lovers will enjoy re-visiting some of the lesser-compiled hits from the year. Huge hits from legendary artists including Wham!, Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson, Elton John, The Police, and Eurythmics are followed by pop gems from Paul Young, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club, Tears For Fears and The Kinks. Blockbuster albums produced multiple hit singles, and ‘Extra’ allows us to include ‘Tell Her About It’ from Billy Joel, ‘Please Don’t Make Me Cry’ from UB40, and ‘Rosanna’ from Toto. Disc 2 includes some of the alternative artists who were becoming chart regulars - The Cure, Echo And The Bunnymen, and U2, and synth-pop stars including Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Japan, Soft Cell, and Heaven 17, plus New Order’s genre defying ‘Confusion’… before concluding with electro-dance from Shalamar, and ‘Maniac’ from the years’ huge soundtrack ‘Flashdance’. It’s all about pure pop to begin disc 3, with Agnetha Fältskog’s first solo single since ABBA, alongside Kim Wilde, Thompson Twins, Shakin' Stevens, Jo Boxers, Tracie, and Donna Summer’s collaboration with Musical Youth.

EMIs massive five-disc collection of 101 80s Hits is about as budget as you can get without putting the thing together yourself at home. The 101 tracks are heavy on the U.K. hits, so for every international smash like Karma Chameleon Culture Club and Walking on Sunshine Katrina & the Waves theres a Kayleigh Marillion and a Good Heart Feargal Sharkey. That said, it's nice to hear something other than Queen's We Will Rock You, and hearing Limahl spin his Neverending Story next to Whitesnake is kind of fun, but these collections are a dime a dozen! The Human League are an English synthpop band formed in Sheffield. Dont Dream Its Over is a song by the Australian rock band Crowded House.
