The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970. The band lead by songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne. Their music is characterised by a fusion of Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. During ELO's original 14-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide, and collected 19 CRIA, 21 RIAA, and 38 BPI awards. For a period in the mid 1970s, the band saw more success in the United States, where they were billed as "the English guys with the big fiddles". From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated twenty seven Top 40 songs on the UK Singles Chart, and fifteen Top 20 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one single of any band in US chart history. In 2017 the classic ELO line-up have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto had a worldwide smash hit in 1964 with The Girl From Ipanema so it made sense to take the show on the road while the song, and bossa nova, were both still hot. Getz and Gilberto embarked on a six-month US tour and recorded two New York shows for this album. One show was at Carnegie Hall, but the show that inspired the album's title was at Greenwich Village's Café Au Go Go. Getz recorded this material with his new quartet, featuring a young Gary Burton on vibraphone, who also contributed two orginal songs. Gilberto earned a multi-album recording contract with Verve as a result of her touring with Getz.

Careful What You Wish For is the seventh album by Scottish rock band Texas. The album went on to achieve gold status in the UK for 100,000 copies sold.

The third and final album by the original Love's lineup, "Forever Changes" regularly draws epic praise. A landmark work that's the L.A.-based psychedelic folk-rock pioneers' most fully realized studio effort, it was produced by band co-founder/frontman Arthur Lee and The Doors' engineer/producer Bruce Botnick, and released by Elektra in early '68. Highlights include "Alone Again Or", "Andmoreagain", "The Red Telephone", and "Live And Let Live".

"Ahh… The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!" is Bootsy Collins' second solo album. Produced by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, the album was the first P-Funk release to hit #1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Soul albums chart, in 1977. The album is considered by many to be Collins' best, a mix of dance tracks and slow jams.

The Penguin Cafe Orchestra (PCO) was an avant-pop band led by English guitarist Simon Jeffes. Co-founded with cellist Helen Liebmann, the band toured extensively during the 1980s and 1990s. The orchestra's sound is not easily categorized, but has elements of exuberant folk music and a minimalist aesthetic occasionally reminiscent of composers such as Philip Glass. The group recorded and performed for 24 years until Jeffes died of an inoperable brain tumour in 1997.
