From Melodic Drumming and the Ostinato Vol. III. Recorded April 1993 at Rave Video, Burbank, CA. Virtuoso drummer Terry John Bozzio was born on December 27, 1950 to Italian-American parents in San Francisco, California. Terry started playing the drums on makeshift sets at age six. Inspired by the Beatles' famous appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," Bozzio begged his father for drum lessons at age thirteen. He played in the 60s garage rock bands Blue Glass Radio, The Yarde, and Tamalpaias Mountain Boys.

Solo drumming is an art that few musicians can manage beyond the fringe of audience comprehension. Terry Bozzio first got his start as the drummer for Frank Zappa's backing band during the '70s, but would go on to become one of rock's most versatile session men, and form one of new wave's most visually exciting outfits, Missing Persons, along with then-wife Dale Bozzio. Born Terry John Bozzio on December 27, 1950 in San Francisco, CA, Bozzio began playing on makeshift drums at an early age, before taking formal lessons at the age of 13 (inspired by the Beatles' infamous appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show).

This March, Universal Music will issue a five-CD, 40th anniversary deluxe edition of Frank Zappa‘s 1978 live album Zappa in New York.

Official Release #23. Zappa in New York was recorded in December 1976 at the Palladium and originally intended for release in 1977. It was held up due to arguments between Frank Zappa and his then-record label, Warner Bros. When the two-LP set finally appeared in March 1978, Warner had deleted "Punky's Whips," a song about drummer Terry Bozzio's attraction to Punky Meadows of Angel. When Zappa reacquired the album and released it as a double CD in 1991, he restored "Punky's Whips" and added four bonus tracks.

Compression is the first solo album by Billy Sheehan. William "Billy" Sheehan is an American bassist known for his work with Talas, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Niacin, and The Winery Dogs. Sheehan has won the "Best Rock Bass Player" readers' poll from Guitar Player Magazine five times for his "lead bass" playing style. Sheehan's repertoire includes the use of chording, two-handed tapping, right-hand "three-finger picking" technique and controlled feedback.
