Colt Ford may have a larger than life hillbilly gangsta public image but he’s actually a sly, passionate, multi-layered writer and he knows what to do in a recording studio, and most importantly, being a former drummer, he knows what do with the beats. He's also a skilled businessman. Ford runs his own label, Average Joe's, and he understands that you can sell as many or more CDs at a mud bog fest as you can at a mall, and if contemporary country radio has been slow to embrace his brand of good-old-boy outlaw hick-hop, Ford has built a huge audience anyway, and it's probably only a matter of time before radio falls in line.

Jerry Butler's career spans four decades; he recorded more than 50 albums and his voice is one of the most distinguished voices in all of music. As soulful as ever, yet smooth as ice, his nickname "the Ice Man" epitomizes his demeanor and sound. In spite of his status as a true music icon, he remains humble. Listen this copilation by Zeopop Records on which we will be able to hear such songs as: Butterfly, No End of Time, He Will Break Your Heart and many other hits Jerry Butler.

Surprises - they come around, but not often. It’s the rarity that catches you off guard. The jolt that wakes you up. When an unsolicited email comes in suggesting you look into something, you get used to it being a bit of a let down. Then a message comes around from a stranger about a local 18 year-old’s new full-length album. Curiosity sets in, your ears perk, your eyes shift, your head turns on its axis. A wash of perplexity overcomes. “Who is this? What’s the story here? How did I not already know about this? His voice sounds great… he’s 18?!” Too often, locals might presume we know of all Wichita has to offer, but there are still sucker punches still there. And damn, if it doesn’t feel good to get knocked out every once and a while.

FLAC tracks +booklet | 01:14:16 | 278 Mb
Genre: Classical / Label: Resonus Classics

Following their debut album for Resonus Classics, The Choir of HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace, with their director Carl Jackson, returns with an album of choral works by the late-Tudor composer Thomas Tomkins (1572–1656). Featuring elaborate verse anthems, two settings of the Evensong canticles, and four-part psalm settings, this album reminds us of Tomkins’s prominence as one of the greatest Chapel Royal composers of the late-English Renaissance.

Jeannie Seely - Thanks, Hank! (1967)
FLAC tracks / MP3 320 kbps | 30:50 | 71 / 181 Mb
Genre: Country, Oldies / Label: Monument - Legacy

The Hank in the title refers to Hank Cochran, not Hank Williams, because Jeannie Seely recorded as many of Hank Cochran's songs as Connie Smith did of Bill Anderson's. The album leads off with the hit "A Wanderin' Man" before covering a number of Cochran's songs that were hits for other artists, such as Burl Ives' "A Little Bitty Tear" and "A Funny Way of Laughin'." Side two bogs down a little with ballads, but closes with the ever-popular "Make the World Go Away." The Pennsylvania-born Seely helped set the pattern for contemporary country artists since she looked like a model and had a very pop-oriented voice, but today she seems like Kitty Wells compared to some of the pure pop that has since passed for country. Thanks, Hank! was later reissued by Harmony, Columbia's budget label, with the title Make the World Go Away. ~ Greg Adams
