Label description: MSG is a legendary name. After two phenomenal records under the guise of Michael Schenker Fest, a true guitar hero is returning to his roots. By forming Michael Schenker Group (MSG) back in 1979, Michael Schenker laid the foundations for one of hard rock's most glorious solo careers of all times. And while nobody expected anything less from a former guitarist for Scorpions and UFO, it's close to impossible mentioning everything Michael has built over the past 50 years, or the countless people he influenced or played with. This, truly, is the stuff that hard rocking myths are made of.

UK five CD set from the guitar hero and former UFO and Scorpions member. After leaving UFO in 1978, legendary guitarist Michael Schenker decided to form his own group - settling on a name that left no confusion about the creative force in the group! Chrysalis Years 1980-1984 collects together all six of Schenker's albums recorded for Chrysalis Records including bonus live tracks and more. Features his eponymous 1980 debut featuring vocalist Gary Barden, 1981's MSG featuring Cozy Powell on drums and UFO's Paul Raymond on keyboards and guitar, and the legendary Japanese double live One Night at Budokan, recorded in Tokyo on MSG's 1981 tour. Released the same year, 1982's Assault Attack was the sole recording to feature former Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet, before Barden's return for 1983's Built to Destroy. This set is rounded off by MSG's second live album, Rock Will Never Die which effectively became the swan song for this era of the band.

Since leaving UFO in 1978, he has been leading the Michael Schenker Group in various incarnations. He is the younger brother of Rudolf Schenker, who is still a guitarist with the Scorpions. The Michael Schenker Group is the first album by the hard rock band Michael Schenker Group. Made #1 on KTUH's charts on the week of September 29, 1980. Highlights like "Looking Out from Nowhere" and "Lost Horizons" are laced with the pomp and bombast typical of the era, and storming opener "Armed and Ready" is arguably Schenker's finest solo track. Vocalist Gary Barden wisely stays out of the way, his understated style (not unlike that of UFO singer Phil Mogg) placing all emphasis where it is intended: Schenker's stunning axe work. In spite of its random quirks, the general consensus among fans holds that this remains the MSG's best work. Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the German guitarist's 1980 album including three bonus tracks: 'Armed and Rady (live)', 'Into the Arena (live) and 'Cry for the Nations (radio edit)'.
