Govind Sreenivasan is Associate Professor of History at Brandeis University. He completed his undergraduate work at McGill University in Canada and received his Master’s and Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Prior to taking his position at Brandeis University, Dr. Sreenivasan taught at Cornell University.

Professor Sreenivasan is the recipient of Brandeis University’s Michael Walzer Award for Distinction in Teaching. He is the author of The Peasants of Ottobeuren: A Rural Society in Early Modern Europe, 1487-1723.

Professor Sreenivasan has received research grants from the German Academic Exchange Service and the National Endowment for the Humanities. His research interests include early modern Europe, rural economy and society, and the Protestant and Catholic Reformations.
