Whether you're a fan of the Cure or not, when a 30th-anniversary reissue of Wish was announced, along with a bunch of unreleased material, it made even the coldest of hearts tremble. Even though it may not be a go-to Cure album (and who can be surprised as it follows the immense Pornography in 1982 and Disintegration in 1989), this 9th album in their gold-plated discography still didn't receive the critical success it deserved upon its release. Despite success in the charts and reaching number one in the UK in only its first week of release on 21st April 1992, Wish received mixed reviews. However, after more than ten years at the top, the press became more inclined to appreciate the violent electric freshness of grunge as well as more melancholic shoegaze.

FLAC (tracks), Lossless / MP3 320 kbps | 3:20:53 | 442 Mb / 1.12 Gb
Genre: Rock & Roll

Albums are all fine and well, but if you really want to know what made a band tick during the first half of the 1960s, you need to listen to the singles. It was singles, after all, that consumed the lion's share of the market - singles by which a band's fame and acclaim were judged, and singles by which their star rose and fell.

Few pop singers of the 20th century had a greater impact on how vocalists approached their craft than Bing Crosby. Bing was one of the first singers to understand how to use the microphone to his advantage, and his phrasing brought jazz and blues influences into the mainstream in a new way, while maintaining an infectious, upbeat, easygoing vocal personality. In 1956, Crosby recorded the album Songs I Wish I Had Sung the First Time Around…, in which he paid homage to some of his favorite singers by interpreting their signature songs, including Al Jolson ("April Showers"), Nat King Cole ("Mona Lisa"), Louis Armstrong ("Ain't Misbehavin'"), the Mills Brothers ("Paper Doll"), Billy Eckstine ("Prisoner of Love"), and even his frequent comic foil Bob Hope ("Thanks for the Memory"). In 2014 the album was reissued in an expanded edition, featuring an additional ten songs with Crosby covering a handful of pop standards, as well as unreleased session outtakes.

There may be hope for jazz fusion after all. If there were no other evidence, trumpeter Chris Botti's terrific album would be enough to give hope to even the most jaded bebop snob. This is that rarest of things: a completely unchallenging record that is also richly rewarding. Botti's approach is lyrical but spare; the production is dark, warm, and rich. A sense of deep and quiet romanticism pervades everything, and while Botti never really lets loose and wails, he manages to make his chops obvious on tunes like "Cubism" and the funky "On the Night Ride." Most of the songs are powered by a gentle funk groove, and one even features a vocal cameo by Gen-X poster girl Edie Brickell. Jazz snobs will get sucked into this delicious music despite themselves; fans of Kenny G and Najee will think it's "real" jazz and consider themselves sophisticated for liking it so much…
