And then there were three. Formed in 2012 as a four piece, Sweden's Reach hit the music scene with their 2105 debut, Reach Out For Rock. The album got a positive reception, giving them opportunities to tour Sweden, England, and Europe. They were also invited to play some important festivals including Hard Rock Hell and Frontiers Rock. In 2017, the band trimmed down to a power trio with founder and guitarist Ludvig Turner jumping behind the mic and adding a new bass player with longtime friend of the band Soufian Ma'Aoui (Houston, Palace). They return with their second studio album, The Great Divide, and it's a smoker.

Elf Project hails from the greater New York area; it's the vision of multi-instrumentalist Carl Schultz who blends progressive rock from the seventies with elements of psychedelic music from the sixties and hard rock. Their debut album Mirage (2009) was more or less Carl's studio project together with guest musicians. On this second album The Great Divide, Schultz (lead vocals, bass, keyboards) is accompanied by Mike Cappadozy (guitars) and Dave Wayne (drums).

As the Day-Glo tide of psychedelic that swept over the U.K. in the late '60s began to recede, something far less ornate and flashy took root in its place. Spurred on by the artistic and commercial success of Traffic's folk- and jazz-influenced debut album – which was recorded out in the countryside – the Byrds headlong plunge into country-rock on Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and the Band's brilliant slice of backwoods Americana, Music from Big Pink, all sorts of groups and artists sprouted up to play loose and wooly blends of organically grown folk, country, jazz, and rock. Some of the bands were beat group leftovers looking to evolve past paisley (the Searchers, the Tremeloes), some were city boys gone to seed (Mott the Hoople, the Pretty Things), and some were just weirdos like Greasy Bear, or lazy-Sunday balladeers like Curtiss Maldoon, all doing their own freaky thing.
