In the two years since their debut, The Linda Lindas—whose members, as of 2024, are ages 14 to 20—have opened for the Rolling Stones and Green Day, collaborated with members of Bikini Kill, and played both Coachella the the Scripps National Spelling Bee (the first band to ever do so). The word phenomenon does not seem like an overstatement. They've also grown as songwriters and musicians, with the three singers clearly finding their own paths. You hear it right away with bassist Eloise Wong absolutely howling on thrash monster "No Obligation": "You'd like me better if I grew out my hair/ You'd like me better if I wasn't a mess/ You'd like me better if I put on a dress."

2023 holiday release. A Christmas present from Rough Trade Shops for all the pop pickers worldwide. In the world of Spotify, Bandcamp and other digital only releases, Rough Trade Shops decided to compile these releases on one simple Christmas album Jangle Bells. It ranges date wise from 2008's Allo Darlin' offering to Marika Hackman's especially recorded track in the middle of a semi heatwave in 2023. Across the 14 Tracks on the vinyl and 19 tracks on the CD you get everything from Pale Waves beautiful Rendition of Wham's Crimbo classic 'Last Christmas' to Chubby and the Gang's 'Violent Night (A Christmas Tale)' which was a flexi only release in 2022. You can sit down and get melancholic with Julia Jacklin or Ellie Bleach or get upbeat and joyous with Linda Lindas and Black Midi who do a pretty faithful version of 'Jingle Bell Rock'. In the preparation to the tour with Azymuth members Ivan Conti and Alex Malheiros I have to admit I had no idea what they were all about. It was only when my fellow musician friends started to react very enthusiastic and excitedly started singing the themes they knew from Azymuth records I knew i had missed out on something. How wonderful then to, already for 9 years, be part of a group with someone like Phil Martin who came up with the idea to invite these great musicians and icons of original Samba Soul Disco invaders to play with us.
