Before he was bassist for one of the biggest bands in the universe, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan was a punk rocker in Seattle. And now we can hear what a 17-year-old McKagan sounded like thanks to The Living: 1982, a previously unreleased LP from his early band The Living.

Few rock bands have ever managed to successfully convey the spirit of their songs in the unplugged live show scenario. Not for the lack of trying, but perhaps due to the intrinsic pitfalls which await anyone who tries to translate what has been written for the electric instruments into the acoustic format. But even among the success stories, not many know how to rework the material structurally for it not only to project in an acoustic setting, but say something new…
2CD Deluxe Edition Reissue. Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist Mark Edwards recorded his one and only solo album following the split of popular band The Runners. I now feel somewhat deprived at not having seen this IMAX movie as of yet as if the soundtrack is anything to go by, it must be fantastic. I bought this CD purely because of Sting's name on the label and was pleasantly suprised to notice that the music herein differs from anything I have heard from any of his studio albums. Many of the songs seem to be in a similar vein to "St. Agnes and the burning train" from the Soul Cages and it is good to see the original album version included along with Fragile. The entire album is full of relaxing ocean music with a twist of some of Sting's earlier work interspersed for good measure.
"Land Of The Living" is a good "debut" (if you can talk about a debut with such a star studded line-up…) that is not groundbreaking, but should not disappoint fans of Melodic Rock. Melodic Rock most probably is the sub genre that has the highest percentage of “supergroups”, there always is one coming out, in the case of SHADOWMAN we get the FM singer Steve Overland, HEARTLAND guitarist Steve Morris, the THUNDER rhythm section Chris Childs and Harry James and as a guest musician on the title track a few horns by DEPARTURE’s Mike Walsh. So the ground is set, how does the musical sector of "Land Of The Living" look like?
An excellent, seemingly complete collection of virtually all the recorded mat'l by this Trenton area, New Jersey band. The original LP is an off the charts rarity, and consists of top shelf psych/hard rock with loads of fuzz guitar…
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a new re-mastered and expanded edition of The Living Room Concert by original Genesis guitarist and celebrated solo artist and composer Anthony Phillips.
"His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead."
Oaksenham is one of these bands, their story begins with another Armenian band called Dumberton Oaks (D.O.). Two ex members of D.O., the bass player Vahagn Papayan and drummer Ashot Korganyan were waiting for a long time for something that lead them to establish as a regular band and in 2001 the flute and keyboard player Valery Tolstov who shared the same desire joined them and Oaksenham was officially born.
