The Modern Ark

The volume explores the stone carved shrines for the scrolls of the Mosaic Law from the mid-sixteenth to the mid-seventeenth century synagogues in the former Polish Kingdom. Created on the margin of mainstream art and at a crossroad of diverse cultures, artistic traditions, aesthetic attitudes and languages, these indoor architectural structures have hitherto not been the subject of a monographic study.

Presenting the Complete Philips Recordings of John Williams on 21 CDs, with the original jackets, celebrating the maestro's 90th birthday on February 8. This box set includes the original artwork and spined wallets, a 32-page booklet with new liner notes by Dr. Emilio Audissino (author of The Film Music Of John Williams and Film Music In Concert: The Pioneering Role Of The Boston Pops Orchestra). All packaged in a 2-piece lift-off lid box with V-shaped thumb-cuts on either side of the lid.

The Overview is a widescreen view of space and humanity's place in it. Written, produced, and played by producer/remixer/Porcupine Tree founder Steven Wilson, it's organized as two suites, and has also been imagined as a film by director Miles Skarin. While there are ominous overtones scattered amongst these ten tracks, Wilson's objective is finding perspective and understanding, and somehow constructing a musical portrait of the vastness of space.
