The Power Station is the debut album by the supergroup The Power Station, released in 1985 on Capitol Records. The album peaked at no. 6 on the US Billboard 200 and no. 12 on the UK Albums Chart. All three singles released from the album were Top 40 hits in the United States. An anniversary edition was released 21 February 2005, featuring 7 bonus tracks, as well as a 35-minute DVD. The Power Station was a supergroup formed by Robert Palmer, Tony Thompson (of Chic) and Andy and John Taylor from Duran Duran. They came together in 1984 to record a one-off album, as a respite from the relentless global touring and promotion of Duran Duran. The original plan for this one-album project was for the three musicians (Taylor, Taylor and Thompson) to provide musical continuity to an album full of material, with a different singer performing on each track.

Living in Fear is the second album from the supergroup The Power Station, released in 1996. The band had the same lineup as for their previous album in 1985. However, John Taylor was going through a divorce at the time, as well as entering drug rehab, and pulled out before the album was recorded. Instead Bernard Edwards, the producer, played all Taylor's bass parts on the record. Unfortunately, Edwards died of pneumonia in Japan before the album was released; the album is dedicated to his memory.

I think that this is one of the BEST,if not should I say the last recording that Benard Edwards had produced for the Power Station before he passed away. The playing on this recording is rock solid with Tony Thompson's drumming and Andy Taylor's guitar playing all so ever great…and may I add that Robert Palmer's writting is strong as ever.

This Robert Palmer collection ably completes the musical circle he began in the mid ‘70s, astutely chronicling pop's ongoing battle between style and substance along the way.

The career of blue-eyed soul singer Robert Palmer was a study in style versus substance. While the performer's earliest work won praise for its skillful assimilation of rock, R&B, and reggae sounds, his records typically sold poorly, and he achieved his greatest notoriety as an impeccably dressed lounge lizard. By the mid-'80s, however, Palmer became a star, although his popularity owed less to the strength of his material than to his infamous music videos: taking their cue from the singer's suave presence, Palmer's clips established him as a dapper, suit-and-tie lady's man who performed his songs backed by a band comprised of leggy models, much to the delight of viewers who made him one of MTV's biggest success stories.
