"My favorite albums have always been the ones that take the listener on a journey. I aim to do that, to create worlds with my albums - universes. I wanted The Other Side of Time to unfold like a story and I've continued that process with The Shadows and The Light. I'm influenced by so many different styles of creative music and I like to try and bring all those influences into harmony on these records. There is long-form and short-form composition.

The Doors fifth studio album, Morrison Hotel, will be reissued in October for its 50th anniversary. The album was recorded in late 1969/early 1970 and released in February 1970. It’s newly remastered for this release by Bruce Botnick. The goodies are all on the bonus CD with more than an hour of unreleased recordings taken from the sessions for Morrison Hotel. Botnick says: “There are many takes, different arrangements, false starts, and insightful studio conversations between the band – who were in the studio – and producer Paul Rothchild – who was in the control room. It’s like being a fly on the wall.” The outtakes include rough versions of Morrison Hotel tracks ‘Peace Frog’ and ‘Blue Sunday’ as well as The Doors rarity ‘I Will Never Be Untrue.’ The bonus CD also features the band jamming on cover versions of the Motown classic ‘Money (That’s What I Want)’ and B.B. King’s’ ‘Rock Me’.

Joan Baez is de meest talentvolle interpretatieve folkzangeres van de jaren 1960. Ze heeft een unieke sopraanstem, waarmee ze al sinds de jaren 50 een bijdrage levert aan de folk- en de popmuziek. Maar ze heeft ook een aantal politieke doelen gesteund. Baez verwierf haar eerste bekendheid tijdens het Newport Folk Festival van 1959. Ze tekende een contract bij Vanguard Records en in oktober 1960 bracht ze haar debuutalbum, ‘Joan Baez’, uit. Van 1962 tot 1964 was ze een populair gezicht in de wereld van de folkmuziek: ze was vaak de hoofdattractie op festivals en tournees en zong vaak tijdens politieke evenementen, waaronder de Mars op Washington in augustus 1963. Haar traditionele werk begon geleidelijk aan meer te neigen naar sociaal bewust werk.

Surnommé les « Beatles américains », The Byrds n'a rien moins qu'inventé et annoncé trois des plus grands styles du rock : le folk rock avec « Mr. Tambourine Man » en 1965, le rock psychédélique de « Eight Miles High » en 1966 et le country rock de l'album Sweetheart of the Rodeo en 1968. Constitué de fortes individualités comme Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman et Gram Parsons, et peut-être un peu trop en avance sur son temps, le groupe de Los Angeles n'a jamais vraiment rencontré la reconaissance qu'il méritait après sa séparation en 1973.
