Consciousness Removal Project is a one-man post-metal band from Tampere, Finland. Its only member Antti Loponen is solely responsible not only for compositions, lyrics and arrangements but also for most instruments and the record production.
The different elements in Tacit aren't mixed impromptu to make it sound "loud". Surely the music may sound reiterative at one point or another, but it's not a boring mess at all. You don't feel as if everything was recorded hastily. The transitions in-between showcase Laponen's skills as a good composer and the overall impression proves that some of his ambitions are flourished thanks to his ingenuity.

La Petite Bande has recorded a spectacular rendition of Bach’s four orchestral suites, certainly some of the most spectacular instrumental music of the Baroque repertoire. La Petite Bande director, Sigiswald Kuijken, has written a very informative essay explaining the history of these pieces. Unfortunately, more is unknown than known. Kuijken speculates that the works were conceived for string orchestra and the wind parts were added at a later date. He also notes that sections of the 4th Suite were reused in the opening chorus of the Christmas Cantata, BWV 110. Kuijken also remarks that he has rethought his approach to these works opting for small musical forces as opposed to the rather large ensemble that La Petite Bande employed in its performances and recording of about 30 years ago.

This is the expanded 'I Got Kinda Lost' unofficial Big Star box set. Previously this set contained four discs and was jam packed with all kinds of Big Star related tracks. Like the previous incarnations of 'I Got Kinda Lost', this expanded 2013 release attempts to tell the story chronologically of Big Star through their studio outtakes and alternate versions by keeping it more Big Star centric through the prism of Chris Bell and Alex Chilton - the architects of the band.

Continuing their forays through the less well-known parts of the Renaissance repertory, The Sound and the Fury now give us almost the entire known works of Firminus Caron (active in the 1460s and ’70s) – lacking only a dozen or so secular pieces. The top line is taken throughout by the peerless David Erler, a man who seems unable to produce an inelegant line or a less than lovely sound.

Karol Lipinski is mainly remembered as a virtuoso star of the Polish Violin School. He was one of a myriad of players to be deeply influenced by Paganini, and his Caprices are clearly modelled on those of the Italian. When asked who the greatest living violinist was, Paganini apparently invariably replied; I don’t know, but Lipinksi is certainly the second greatest. The Polish fiddler also shared something of Paganini’s compositional flair, even to the extent of writing comic opera.

Naples in 1750 was one of the ten biggest cities in the world, and it spawned two of the biggest musical stars of the era: the castrati Farinelli and the much lesser known Caffarelli, whose real name was Gaetano Majorano. This release consists of arias written for Caffarelli, and you might treasure it for the flamboyant, high-volume singing of countertenor Franco Fagioli, who arguably comes as close as any of his contemporaries to conveying what the high-powered sound of the castrati was like (in the understandable absence of the genuine article). Or, you might be grateful to hear the music associated with Caffarelli, who in his own time had a reputation for being troublesome and has generally ignored by the historical opera revival movement.
