This book is the first study of the power of the Russian Parliament in the policy process from 1994-2001, within the context of executive-legislative relations. It challenges the widely held view that between 1994 and 2001 Russia had a presidential system with a strong, authoritarian leader who ruled by decree and a weak parliament which did not have much power.

This book starts off by contemplating whether the concept of world society could be an ice-breaker for a global shift in sociology; it critically assesses social responsibility of university students, discusses professional social responsibility in engineering, looks at conflicts in mining industry and evaluates the public healthcare system and the corporate and consumer social responsibility in the Italian food industry.
