Officium Triste was formed in April 1994 with the purpose of creating slow, heavy and melodic doom/death metal. Inspiration was mainly found within the music of bands like Paradise Lost, Anathema, Chorus of Ruin, My Dying Bride, Celestial Season and Katatonia. Dutch death/doom metal act Officium Triste, featuring vocalist Pim Blankenstein (The 11th Hour), will release its fifth studio release "Mors Viri" in the Spring of 2013 via Hammerheart Records. A belated sequel to Rhino's 2012 box set The Studio Albums 1969-1978, 2015's The Studio Albums: 1979-2008 rounds up the expanded remasters of Chicago's next ten studio albums, beginning with 1979's Chicago 13 and ending with 2008's Chicago XXXII: Stone of Sisyphus (which was actually recorded in 1994 but shelved for 14 years)…
On his fifth full-length, The Afterlove, British singer James Blunt makes a risky shift in his sensitive-guy-with-a-guitar sound, opting for a taut collection that tugs at the heartstrings with polished pop sheen. The slight departure seems to be a conscious decision, as the confidently self-aware Blunt sings that he "would have said 'you're beautiful'/but I used that line before," referencing his inescapable 2005 smash single. Recruiting OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and Ed Sheeran on production, writing, and occasional backing vocals (the trio even joins forces on the pastoral "Time of Our Lives"), Blunt presents his most mainstream offering yet. Indeed, at certain points, his trademark wounded falsetto drifts into Adam Levine territory, turning songs like the soaring "Bartender," the pulsing "California," and the shimmering "Lose My Number" into the best Maroon 5 songs released in 2017.
If all war is hell, it remains the case that for sheer hatred and intense savagery, the Pacific theater of operations during World War II developed into one of the deeper rings of agony. That intensity is explored and explained in Hell in the Pacific. Two years in the making, Hell in the Pacific is a four-part film, spanning 13 countries and following literally in the footsteps of the soldiers of 60 years ago. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in December 1941 propelled the United States into World War II and marked the beginning of the war in the Pacific. This series breaks down the traditional view of this conflict as a war between merciless Japanese and heroic Allies. This critically acclaimed series documents the true story of perhaps the most bitter battle arena of the Second World War.
