An unknown poet created a choral cantata from the song "Make you, my spirit, ready" by Johann Burchard Freystein. Of the ten verses of the song, he took the first and the last word literally for the introductory and final choruses, and from the content of the internal verses he freely composed two recitatives and two arias. The Gospel of Sunday, the parable of the unfaithful scapegoat (Matthew 18: 23-35), describes the contrast between God's grace and human ruthlessness. At the thought of the song, the Cantata poet takes up that the king can unexpectedly demand an account from his servants, and that he must be ready to watch (n. 2-3) and to pray (n. 4-5).
