In celebration of the group's 20th Anniversary, The TEN Tenors release Wish You Were Here, an album of material from iconic performers who have passed on including Prince, David Bowie, Michael Hutchence of INXS, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Roy Orbison and more. The album is a journey through some of the world's greatest hits, from the classic rock anthems of Queen, "We Are the Champions," and David Bowie, "Heroes" to unique "tenorial" takes on material by Michael Jackson, "The Way You Make Me Feel," and Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".
Lyricist Don Black and composer John Barry, together and apart, have a vast award-winning film-score CV, most notably several James Bond films and BORN FREE. The playful Australian pop-opera group The Ten Tenors take a whack at this most vaunted repertoire, to stunning effect. Recorded with the London Session Orchestra at Abbey Road Studio (under the direction of Nicholas Dodd) and produced by John Barry himself, the Tens cover 12 Barry/Black songs, including several James Bond numbers, the theme from GLADIATOR, and three never-before-released compositions.
BIS is proud to present the only available collection of the complete symphonies by Alfred Schnittke. The recordings, part of the Schnittke Edition begun in 1987, have been brought together in a 6-CD boxed set which also includes an initiated essay by Schnittke’s close associate Alexander Ivashkin: a fascinating chapter in the history of the late 20th-century symphony.
