Jailbreak is the sixth studio album by Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy, released in 1976. It proved to be the band's commercial breakthrough in the US, and the only Thin Lizzy album with a certification (in this case, Gold) in that country. The singles include "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town", the latter being Thin Lizzy's biggest hit.

Thin Lizzy was originally conceived as a power trio in the image of Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, but Eric Bell lacked the charisma of those groups' guitarists, forcing vocalist/bassist Philip Lynott to take center stage from day one. Despite his already poetic, intensely personal lyrics, Lynott was only beginning to develop as a songwriter, and the band's unfocused, folk-infused early efforts are a far cry from their mid-'70s hard rock glory. Recorded on a shoestring budget, their self-titled debut is surprisingly mellow; many songs, such as "Clifton Grange Hotel" and "The Friendly Ranger of Clontarf Castle," sound confused and unfinished.

To celebrate 50 years of Thin Lizzy Universal Music are releasing Rock Legends, a 6CD+DVD box set that features an astonishing 74 unreleased tracks.This box covers the band’s whole career with audio newly mastered by Andy Pearce. The content encompasses a raft of unreleased material including demos, radio sessions, live recordings and rare single edits. In a modern review, Greg Prato of AllMusic described the album as "Thin Lizzy's last true classic album", and their "most musically varied, accomplished, and successful studio album". A new remastered and expanded edition of Black Rose was released on 27 June 2011. This new edition is a 2-CD set, with the original album on disc one, and bonus material on disc two.

SUPERB JAPANESE BROADCAST RECORDING FROM THIN LIZZY IN 1980 Formed in Dublin in 1969, prior to the emergence of U2 in the early 1980s, Thin Lizzy remained the Emerald Isle s favourite and most successful rock band worldwide. In 1975 the band recorded their breakthrough album Jailbreak, which began an era of great success for Lizzy, which continued until their break-up in 1983. By 1980, guitarist Gary Moore had quit the band, and while Midge Ure helped out on some live shows, for the recording and release of Chinatown, in October 80, Snowy White had joined the line-up on lead guitar. In the wake of the album s release Thin Lizzy went out on tour and between September and October they performed several shows in Japan. The finest of these was played at Nakano Sunplaza, on 25th September 1980. Recorded live for FM Radio broadcast across the country, the concert remains a favourite among Japanese fans, and this remarkable gig can now he heard by Lizzy enthusiasts worldwide as this CD presents the full concert in its entirety.
