Tango is the product of people drawn together on the margins of Buenos Aires in the late nineteenth century. From the slum districts on the outskirts of the capital to the ports, the music of the people merged – Andalusian Flamenco, southern Italian melodies, Cuban habanera, African candomblé percussion and milonga. Alexander Sevastian, the four-time first prize winner of international accordion competitions, offers here a virtuosic version of some of the great tangos by Piazzolla and other famous composers. Peter Gabriel is the second solo album by English singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, released in 1978. The album is the second of four with the same title. It was produced by guitarist Robert Fripp, whose influence is evident in the use of 'Frippertronics' on the track "Exposure".

With about 20 Top 40 and Tipparade quotations, Patricia Paay was an indispensable part of the musical landscape between the late 1960s and the mid-1980s. This Golden Years part contains all her singles up to and including 1978. Started as an English-speaking pop singer, to score her first hits in Dutch and then return to English. The singles she made with the bands Himalaya, Honeypie and Heart can also be found on this 2CD.

By the late 1970s the line-up of highly gifted vocalist Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford (acoustic and electric guitars), John Tout (keyboards, vocals), Jon Camp (bass, acoustic & electric guitars, vocals) and Terry Sullivan (drums, percussion) had recorded a series of acclaimed albums that fused classical music influences with progressive rock and had earned a loyal following in Europe and had enjoyed wider success in the United States and Japan.

The tango originated circa 1890 in the harbor area of Buenos Aires where musicians performed a la parrilla (improvised). Now the tango is a nostalgic, exciting music that has developed into a sound and dance passionately reminiscent of Argentina. Guillermo Destaillats was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1970. At the age of sixteen he began to study music, starting off with piano at the Conservatorio Nacional. Although born in Buenos Aires, it was Germany that Guillermo heard tango for the first time in his life.
