Torroba

The history of Finnish guitar playing cannot be written without Arto Juusela (1939-). He was one of the first performers of classical guitar music in our country already in the 1950s, when the guitar was still a rare concert instrument. Alongside his medical work, Juusela developed into a leading guitar artist of his time, with enough work to fill the role of classical guitar or lute. In addition to solo and orchestral concerts, he has played chamber music, especially early music, in various ensembles.

This is a Great Classical piece for the lovers of classical, as well as the ones who may hate it. These Adagios CDs get beter and better each time there is a new release. I must warn you there some good as well as some bad ones. There is a certain Adagio flavor for everyones.

Guitarist, Ana Vidovic, takes us on a journey through the beautiful music of Spanish composer, Federico Moreno Torroba and Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. Ana also introduces us to "Altiplanos", an interesting piece dedicated to Ingrid Betancourt written by a guitarist and composer Pierre Bensusan. There is also a hauntingly beautiful "Farewell" by Sergio Assad, "Cavatina" by Stanley Myers; the theme from the movie "The Deer Hunter", three etudes by Heitor Villa Lobos. Rounding out the virtuoso performance is "La Catedral", by eminent Paraguayan composer and guitarist, Agustin Barrios Mangore.
