The members of Toto celebrate their freedom from "corporate shackles and invisible slave owners" in their liner notes to this collection, copyrighted by Toto Recordings, Inc., even if it was released by CMC Records, which is owned by Capitol Records, which in turn is part of the major label EMI. The group's idea for expressing its newfound liberty is to record an album consisting of cover songs by their favorite artists, an unimpeachable list including the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Cream, Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock, Elton John, Bob Marley, Steely Dan, the Temptations, and Stevie Wonder.
Toto have welcomed many different band members across their long career but in the early nineties they had a short period as a four-piece featuring Steve Lukather (guitar & lead vocals), David Paich (keyboards & vocals), Jeff Porcaro (drums & percussion) and Mike Porcaro (bass)…
Toto's compilation is to be recommended in that it contains all four of the group's Top Ten hit singles – "Hold the Line," "Rosanna," "Africa," and "I Won't Hold You Back." It also contains four more of Toto's 14 pop chart singles – "Georgy Porgy," "99," "I'll Be Over You," and "Pamela.
This spectacular live concert sees Toto celebrating their 35th Anniversary at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland during their 2013 World Tour. Toto have announced that they’ll release a new live package next month. It’s titled 40 Tours Around The Sun and will arrive on DVD, Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, Blu-ray/2CD, 3LP, 2CD and on digital and streaming platforms on March 22 via Eagle Rock. The performance was captured in front of 18,000 Toto fans at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome in March 2018 as the band toured in celebration of their 40th anniversary.
Columbia's two-disc Greatest Hits compilation provides longtime Toto fans with a whole lot to love (except anything from the brilliant Dune soundtrack). For the average pop fan, a smaller, single-disc collection like 2003's Essential Toto will provide them with all of the "Africa," "Roseanna," and "Hold the Line" they could ever want.
This live performance was filmed in front of a sold-out crowd exceeding 18, 000 fans on March 17, 2018 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. The performance captures one special night on November 21, 2020 when Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams and David Paich appeared with the new line-up of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles, CA. Joining Lukather, Williams and Paich for this next chapter in their indelible history are new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note / Snarky Puppy), and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck). Keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note) and multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr) segued over continuing their tenure in the ensemble. This marks the fifteenth incarnation of the TOTO line-up in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited.
