Trainer Games

Andrei Volokitin is one of a rare breed of players: he achieved a ranking in the world's top 20 while still a teenager, playing dynamic and often brilliant chess. Although we cannot all aspire to emulate his achievements, there is much that we can learn from his training methods, his games and his general approach to chess.

Though some of the earliest forms of chess are to be found in Ancient China, its entry into world tournament play came only in the latter part of the 19th century. In 1978, author Liu Wenzhe became the first Chinese player to defeat a western grandmaster and subsequently gained a reputation as China's top chess trainer.
