The Twilight soundtrack is the official music for the 2008 film Twilight [movie release date in UK December 19th 2008]. The score is composed by Carter Burwell, with the rest of the soundtrack being chosen by music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas. The Twilight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album was released in the U.S.A. on November 4th 2008 by Patsavas' Chop Shop label, in conjunction with Atlantic Records. The Twilight soundtrack debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200, having sold 165,000 copies in its first week, ahead of AC/DC's Black Ice and High School Musical 3: Senior Year, according to Nielsen Soundscan. It is the third soundtrack to reach No.1 in 2008, after Juno and Mamma Mia!. Twilight is also the first soundtrack to hit No.1 in advance of its film's release since 8 Mile in 2002. So far, over 500,000 copies have been sold within the U.S. and the album is now certified Gold. 'Decode" by Paramore was the first single released from the soundtrack. It premiered exclusively on Stephenie Meyer's official website on October 1st 2008. The music video for 'Decode' premiered on November 3rd 2008 and includes clips from the movie.

The album was produced by guitarist Andy MacFarlane and recorded and mixed by Paul Savage at Chem19 Studios in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland.
