Ulrika Spacek

Ulrika Spacek are an English alternative rock band, formed in 2014 and currently composed of singer-guitarist Rhys Edwards, guitarist Rhys Williams, guitarist-keyboardist Joseph Stone, bassist Ben White and drummer Callum Brown. They released the "The Album Paranoia" in February 2016[17] and embarked on a UK tour the same month.[18] In September 2016, the band released stand-alone single "Everything: All The Time".

Ulrika Spacek return on June 2nd with the release of their second album, Modern English Decoration. Much like their debut album released in early 2016, the band chose to record, produce and mix the entirety of the record in their shared house – a former art gallery called ‘KEN’, so named because of a cryptic inscription found above the front door. Not just a studio and home, KEN is essentially the band’s hub, a space in which the surrounding ephemera of videos, artwork and even band photos are all created.

Astrel K is Rhys Edwards of Ulrika Spacek. Astrel K's debut single ‘You Could If You Can’ was released via Duophonic Super 45s - a label which has a history of releasing limited edition abstract releases from Stereolab, Broadcast and Yo La Tengo. 500 copies of the 7” were made, hand stamped and numbered, quickly selling out in selected record shops.

The new Counter Culture 2016 compilation collects many of our favourite releases of the last twelve months. Killer tracks that were big hits with our customers alongside staff recommendations and, of course, selections from our Top 10 Albums of the Year. 2016 saw Rough Trade Shops celebrates it's 40th Anniversary, and to make this year's Counter Culture even more special London art collective, Le Gun's wonderful ink interpretations of Rough Trade East & West grace the front cover and body.
