The aim was to do for country what Saturday Night Fever did for disco. The result was that bars from Kona to Kalamazoo suddenly had mechanical bulls, and slickers walking around in cowboy hats. You might also pinpoint this as the moment in time when "country" music suddenly went cosmopolitan, paving the way for Garth Brooks. Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love" was one of the decade's biggest singles, and this album briefly made a star of Mickey Gilley (whose Texas club provided a home for that alpha bull). Fans of Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, and Bonnie Raitt may want this collection for the tunes they lack elsewhere. And it sure recalls an era. As the title indicates, "Truly: The Love Songs" whittles down Lionel Richie's hits - both solo and with the Commodores - to just the romantic tunes. As many of his best-known songs are indeed love songs, it's easy to listen to this 1997 compilation and think there's nothing missing, but there are some big hits MIA: "All Night Long (All Night)," "Dancing on the Ceiling," "Running with the Night," and "You Are," to name a few. What this does offer are his biggest ballads and slow jams - "Hello," "Penny Lover," "Three Times a Lady," "Sail On," "Easy," "Endless Love," "Truly," "Stuck on You," "Say You, Say Me" - and that makes for nice romantic mood music.

"Two Eyes" is the 3rd studio album by the American singer/songwriter Brenda Russell, released in 1983 on Warner Bros. Records. The album got to #16 on the Blues & Soul Top British Soul Albums chart. Artists such as Michael McDonald, Rita Coolidge, Stevie Wonder, Pattie Brooks, Randy Crawford, Christopher Cross, James Ingram, Patrice Rushen and Al Jarreau appeared on the album. In 1990, singer Lalah Hathaway covered the song "It's Something" under the title "Somethin'" on her self-titled debut album. Later in 2013 Lalah Hathaway with Snarky Puppy did another rendition of the song for the album 'Family Dinner - Volume 1', which on January 26, 2014, won a Grammy Award in the "Best R&B Performance" category.
